MEMORIAL POEM
Verse 1
We live a life of service to others.
And when together we act as one.
Providing help when it is needed.
And making sure that all is done.
Verse 2
There are times when one of us has fallen.
And to their feet they cannot regain.
As a family we reach out to their loved ones.
To let them know we share their pain.
Verse 3
At these times when we lose a colleague.
We remember the duty theyโd done.
In their memory we continue to do so.
The Police family all as one.
Verse 4
You did your duty even on the day
When sadly someone took your life away
Today, tomorrow, respects we pay
And our thoughts of you will never stray
Verse 5
Our fallen friends can serve no more
Though to offer comfort and reassure
God will push his gates open wide
And welcome them all with thanks and pride.
Verse 6
So let us all stand up together.
And salute our fallen friends.
Watch over all their loved ones.
Ensure their memory never ends

โThey do so with one purpose, to keep the people of West Yorkshire safe and feeling safe and are often the last line of defence for the most vulnerable in our society.

โOn behalf of everyone at Derbyshire Constabulary, I send my respects to the families of officers across the country who have tragically fallen in the line of duty. Police officers and staff say goodbye to their loved ones before they head to work, where they selflessly face the dangers associated with modern day policing simply by just doing their jobs. To all our police officers , you are valued and respected and thank you for keeping us safe in an ever challenging environment. Condolences to the families that have lost love ones over the years.

I pay tribute to, and have the utmost respect for, the brave men and women who work to keep us safe. They do so 24 hours a day and every single day of the year. It is easy to criticise in hindsight, it is easy to highlight mistakes, it isn't so easy to take the time to say thank you. May I take this moment to say thank you to all the serving and retired police officers and their families for everything they do and sacrifice for us. God Bless You All.

"In a year when a long line of politicians and public figures have vilified the police, and screaming hordes have called for them to be defunded, today more than ever we should all think about how we are kept safe by the boys in blue. Every day they run headlong into unknown danger and tragically far too many are killed.
They keep us all safe regardless of our colour, religion, gender, or political stance
Those campaigning against the police, uploading videos to you tube should hang their heads in shame for creating an anti police environment. "

""There will be no golden casket, no kneeling footballers, no virtue signalling by F1 drivers, no dance in the name of art on BGT, no riots and no looting but just a dignified silence from a blue wall, behind which stands a shattered family, devastated colleagues and a shocked Police family. They stand together, upset, angry and in pain. Despite all this, those serving will put their uniforms back on tomorrow and the day after and continue to protect the public, they will run towards danger, and stand face to face with pure evil to protect strangers, they deal with and see things that no person should really see, and they ask nothing more than for your support and to go home to their families. So donโt tell me that anyoneโs life matters more than that of a Police officer.""

Remembering all fallen officers who have given their lives in the service of others. Perhaps society will one day realise that in order for those who protect us, they themselves need protecting, with very severe punishments for those who abuse, and take the lives of the officers in blue. God help and protect you all, and may the fallen rest in peace.

We have lost three offices just this week, and it just brings home the dangers that we walk into every day to protect the public who we serve and the colleagues that we are with. I am forever humbled and honoured every day when I think about the hero's that I work with and am always amazed at what they do. When people complain about the more mundane aspects of a police officers role, fines, shoplifting etc they should bear in mind that it is also these officers that are the first on the scene of some shocking scenarios which most of us would run from. They cannot run, they have to face it, to deal with it, to protect US from it, with the dedication of the ever thinning blue line, to the point of some giving their lives. I salute all officers that have lost their lives in the carrying out of their duties and give my heartfelt condolences to all who knew and loved them. Thank you.

"The Thin Blue Line
Among us, sent down from heaven,
Are those that walk a Thin Blue Line, that's a given.
Like Guardian Angels to watch over me and you,
Are those that wear the uniform of blue.
We see them only as traffic stops,
We do not call them friends, just cops.
We pray we never have a chance meeting,
We never pass along a greeting.
But they are so much more than this,
They simply do not see the world as bliss.
But they look into the corners of our deepest fears,
They walk the beat, they wipe a tear.
They bring a message to our home,
When all is not well, and you are alone.
They come to us, no matter the need,
Handle the problem, complete the deed.
They lay their personal feelings aside,
They do their job, they have great pride.
And if one should fall, among life's things.
The badge they wear, turns into wings"
